Director of the Mid-Cities club since its inception in 1984.
A
resident of Bedford, Mary is a member of the Texas SCRABBLE®
Hall of Fame and was national Director of the Year in 2000. In
addition to being club director, Mary also plays in and directs
tournaments both locally and nationally. |
 | Dee Segrest,
Co-Director. Dee lives in Grand Prairie and is a charter member of
the Mid-Cities club. Dee has retired from the City of Dallas Parks
Department and directs and plays in tournaments. She was Texas State
Champion in 1996 and is a member of the Texas SCRABBLE®
Hall of Fame. |
 | Kate Watson - Kate is a co-director of the club. A
member of the club since the 80s, Kate has become an annotator for
major tournaments, teaming up with Dee Segrest or another annotator
to notate all the plays in the competition between the top
competitors. Kate was formerly in the USAF reserves and was a
hurricane hunter. She is an instructor for American Airlines. |
 | Shirley Apley -
Originally from Nebraska, Shirley is a genealogical librarian at the Fort Worth Public Library.

 | Lee Brooks - After
languishing for years in Scrabble-starved Lawton,OK, Lee finally
moved to the DFW area and became a regular at the Mid-Cities club. |
 | Mike Chitwood - Mike started a
club in North Dallas which he handed over to Bryan Pepper when Mike
moved to Tyler temporarily. He has placed first in Division 2 of 10
tournaments, including two Texas State Championship tournaments. |

Karen lives in Grand Prairie and joined the Bedford club in
2006. She works for American Airlines. |
 | Carl Davis - Carl
lives in Fort Worth and Atlanta with his wife Mo and works for Delta Air Lines
as an aircraft mechanic. He has placed 1st in Division 2 in many
tournaments and also placed 4th in Division 4 in the National SCRABBLE®
Championship in Providence, RI in 2000. |
 | Michelle (Mo) Davis
- Carl and Mo met at SCRABBLE club and dated for
several years before taking the big step. Several Scrabble
friends were privileged to attend their wedding, after which they
took a honeymoon which incorporated a tournament in Portland, OR. |
 | Sammy Dick-Onuoha -
Sammy, a native of Nigeria, lives in south Dallas. He works in a
dialysis center. He was an expert SCRABBLE
player in
Nigeria and when he moved to Texas, joined our club. He was
accustomed to the combination (British and N. American) dictionary
and had to "unlearn" the British-only words. |
 | Mike Early - Mike
lives in south Fort Worth and plays in a number of tournaments
yearly. He is a musician and frequent tournament player. Mike was
the 1994 Texas State Champion. |

 | Bryan Pepper - Bryan
lives in Bedford and works for Lab Corp in Dallas as a fleet manager.
He plays in and directs tournaments both locally and nationally.
Bryan directs a one-day tournament in the Dallas area almost every month. |
 | John Redding - John lives in Grand Prairie and plays in tournaments frequently. |

 | Stephen Sneed - Stephen
and his twin sister are the youngest of 9 children and have been
home-schooled until now. After only three tournaments Stephen
decided to tackle the National
SCRABBLE® Championship in Orlando (2008), winning Division 4
handily and gaining 279 rating points! |
 | Linda Villarreal -
Linda, a resident of Bedford, was so excited when she was shown an
article about a Bedford tournament, that she called Mary and
exclaimed that she would be happy to pay $10 a night! What an offer!
Fortunately it costs her much less than that! |
